Service Description

Level 2 of the ICI Fellowship in Advanced Surgical and Restorative Implantology is designed for clinicians seeking to advance their surgical capabilities through a comprehensive understanding of Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR), alveolar ridge augmentation and the management of deficient bone volume in implant dentistry. This intensive, hands-on module builds upon the surgical foundations established in Level 1 progressing into more advanced regenerative procedures essential for successful implant placement in anatomically compromised sites. Participants will develop the biological understanding, surgical judgement and practical skills required to assess and manage horizontal and vertical alveolar ridge deficiencies, select appropriate grafting materials and barrier membranes, and implement predictable bone augmentation protocols. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based surgical techniques, flap design, tension-free primary closure, graft stabilisation and the prevention and management of regenerative complications. Module Highlights: -Biological principles of bone regeneration and wound healing -Advanced CBCT assessment and classification of alveolar ridge defects -Treatment planning for horizontal and vertical bone deficiencies -Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR): principles, indications and clinical protocols -Bone grafting materials: autografts, allografts, xenografts and synthetic substitutes -Barrier membrane selection: resorbable and non-resorbable membranes -Horizontal ridge augmentation and contour grafting techniques -Introduction to vertical ridge augmentation and advanced regenerative concepts -Socket preservation and management of post-extraction ridge defects -Flap design, periosteal releasing incisions and tension-free primary closure -Suturing techniques for regenerative surgery -Management of membrane exposure, graft infection and other complications -Staged versus simultaneous bone augmentation and implant placement -Hands-on practical training in GBR, graft placement, membrane stabilisation and surgical closure Designed for clinicians seeking to expand their surgical scope beyond conventional implant placement and develop the knowledge and practical confidence to manage bone-deficient implant sites using contemporary regenerative techniques. Who should attend? Dentists who wish to incorporate Guided Bone Regeneration and bone augmentation procedures into their clinical practice. Location: Contemporary CBD venue with catering provided
